About

I am often asked by my students if I spend all of my spare time thinking about physics.

I like to point out that it is important to have many different interests, and that even physics teachers enjoy music, art, theatre, poetry, literature, sport, current affaires, travel etc..

However, I have to admit that physics is rarely far from my mind, as this website shows. It is a collection of photographs taken at school, at home, on holiday, in fact anywhere I see some interesting physics.

The questions are designed to make you think deeply about physics in contexts that you might meet in everyday life.

I hope this website encourages you to think about physics, to ask your own questions, and even to try some small investigations of your own. Send me your comments, suggestions and, above all, your answers if you think they are better than mine!

The picture on the right is the first photograph used on this site. It was taken in France by my friend Chris Clark, who had just bought a shiny new digital camera in Andorra. Did he take the picture whilst we were at the top of the mountain or at the bottom?
