Moon Finger

Ana Maria sent me this nice picture of herself supporting the moon with her finger. This makes you wonder what supports the moon when Ana Maria is not there to help...

Another question is, could we use this picture to estimate the size of the moon? Scientists have measured how far away the moon is by using lasers and the answer is about 384,000 km.

We could estimate the diameter of the moon by comparing it to Ana Maria's hand, but there is one vital peice of information missing. How far away was her friend when he took the picture? I asked her if she had the foresight to measure that distance but alas, her romantic weekend did not include thinking about physics for some strange reason. So can you use NASAs measurement of 3500 km as the diameter of the moon to tell her how far away the camera was?
